Down to the Bayou

In 24 hours that is where we will be headed, down to Louisiana. Eric got a pretty good job offer, and the opportunity fits for us right now. So we are packing up and heading out! Come Monday morning we will be starting the next chapter of our lives down in LA. I am SO excited to experience everything that Southern living has to offer. Everything about this move is so good for us right now...EXCEPT the fact that in approximately 6 hours from right now, I will be saying goodbye to one of the best jobs I have ever had, and some of the best people I have ever met. Harry, Darrin, Catalina, Gina, Teri, Cathy, Carol, Lisa and Vivi-I'll forever miss working with you all! I've never had a job where I was actually excited to go to work, so that I could catch up with Gina, joke with the girls up front, see what new fruit or random trivia Harry was offering, or wait for the next absurd thing to come out of Darrin's mouth. Maybe they will let me work from home... :)

Anyway, although I will miss them greatly, I can't wait to start this new chapter with my hubby, and update you all soon on how we are getting along down in...TIGER country, ICK! :-P

Been a while!

I almost forgot about my blogging its been so long (yeah, right!). We've been so busy these past couple of weeks it seems time has been flying by.  Thanksgiving was definitely a different experience this year!  We went to West Virginia to be with Eric's side of the family.  That was definitely the first time I have heard so much discussion about how many points the buck had or how big it was, haha!  We had delicious food, and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!

On Friday my husband and his dad wanted to go hunting, and for some unknown reason I really wanted to go and experience it as well.  I will spare you all the details, but lets just say I got the experience and next hunting trip I will be staying in the kitchen baking or something, haha!

It seems as if November flew by, and now December is flying too.  I haven't even started my Christmas shopping (oops!).  I have a work party this next Wednesday, so I have to get that Secret Santa gift purchased (luckily I already know what I am getting!).  And then buy for everyone else.

And the best news is....Eric purchased us tickets to CA!  We arrive on January 8th and are there for a week.  We are so excited to get back to the sunshine for a while and see everyone.  If you will be around that week, give us a shout!

Now to finish up the last hour of work, and then head home for the weekend!  Our friends are coming to stay for the weekend, I am so excited! TGIF Yall!

Farewell OctSNOWber

It's funny how certain things get nicknames, and the region here decided that this past month would be OctSNOWber, because yes we had SNOW in OCTOBER! It was the earliest snow in 23 years here, and I LOVED it! I already love the beauty of where we live. Seeing the leaves changes was awesome, and then with everything topped with snow, SO pretty. To make it better we still have all the fall colors and then the snow-just breathtaking. It was cute to see all the Halloween and fall stuff mingled with the snow, or example some kids made a snowman with a jack-o-lantern head :-). It only snowed the one day, but it snowed ALL day. I got to try out my new winter coat (LOVE it!) and I also got to practice driving!! They had snow plows out all day so it wasn't bad at all, however I could see how it might get bad during a storm or blizzard! The funniest part was seeing one of the cops stuff in the center of the highway...they had flares out and one of the lanes blocked. We thought there was an accident but nope...just several cops standing out in the snow trying to push one of their cars out. All I gotta say about that is: typical!

Anyways, it's finally November!! My favorite month! So many exciting things this month. First of all one of my best friends, Jessica, her little girl turned ONE on the first!! I can't believe it has already been a year. I remember being so anxious for her arrival, and Jessica texting me on Halloween night that she was in L&D. I waited all night and morning by the phone and finally got a text saying the beautiful girl was born!! I'll never forget holding her for the first time. And being so far away on her first bday got me kinda sad. But I can't wait to see what her second year has in store and watch her grow. I love you Mackenzie Grace!

It also makes me sad that I'm missing out so much on my niece growing up. It's a reminder that she will be one before we know it! I try to make sure she knows how much I love her through her mommy and of course by spoiling her with little gifts every holiday or just because, hehe!

Also in November is Eric's birthday on the 11th and mine on the 28th! As well as Thanksgiving, which I am very excited to spend in Parsons this year with our family and friends! I am very blessed to have been so welcomed by eric's family and friends, and I just LOVE spending time with all of them.

Now I am off to make pulled pork egg rolls in our new deep fryer (thanks Nicole and Ronnie Dale!).

Happy November!!!

Fall has definitely arrived

And I am SO excited! It's getting so very pretty here with all of the colors. This past weekend has felt especially "fall-ish" with the chilly air and slight breeze, not to mention all the leaves on the ground. It's definitely very pretty.

Anyways, the past couple of weekends have been pretty spectacular. Last weekend we went to Parsons, which is always a nice little get away to be with family. We spent pretty much all day Saturday in Morgantown at my very first WVU game! It was so much fun, we had great seats,it wad great to be in a stadium cheering with my hubby, plus I got to wear my cute new WV shirt and earrings! Sunday was even more awesome. Eric recently bought a new Polaris Ranger RZR side by side, which in the beginning I could care less about. Well we went off roaring with my in-laws and some friends and it was AWESOME!! We had SO much fun, and it was relaxin too! Besides the time I did the mud bath at Glen Ivy Day Spa, I have never been more muddy in my life, and I loved it! I can't wait til we take the RZR out again.

This weekend we just stayed here for the most part. Eric's been working on the RZR and his truck, and I have been trying to finish "The Help." once I finish (definitely this week!) I will need suggestions on my next read!

Last night we went to a local farm to their pumpkin patch. I was seriously SO excited! I haven't been to actually pick my own pumpkin since I was a little kid. We did the hay ride out to the patch, and together we searched for the perfect pumpkins! We got a small, medium and large pumpkin. Our biggest is 33lbs! Ha that should be fun to carve ;-)

I am looking forward to a very productive, and hopefully lucky week! Adios!

Had to dig out some tank tops and flip flops

I haven't worn any of my tank tops in a while...its starting to get a little cooler in Purcellville, and I have been wearing jeans, t-shirts (sometimes with long sleeves!) and tennis shoes.  But, Tuesday I had to dig up some tank tops to pack in my bag...because I am in California!!  And it is hot!  I am currently posting this from my parents office in their house, crazy!

I randomly got a 5 day weekend from working.  And I got to thinking it would be a good opportunity to fly back.  My Gram has been in the hospital, so it would be good to see her, and to meet my baby niece in person for the first time!  Plus catch up with some other people and just get to hug them :)  So I searched for a flight, found a good deal, and that was the end of it.  Monday it was just a thought, Tuesday I was packing my bags, and Wednesday I touched down in the OC!

On the agenda while I am here:  visit with my family, play "softball" with my mom and her work friends (haha ;-) ), see some friends, get my hair done, see my BFF Jessica and my little love Mackenzie (OMG I can't wait, when I left she wasn't crawling...and now she is turning one next month!), and FINALLY driving out to Vegas for a day to visit my brother and sister in law, and finally finally hold and snuggle and kiss and love on my baby niece Ally....I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THAT MOMENT!!!

Sleeping alone in the guest bed last night I tossed and turned all night...I missed being snuggled up to my hubby!!  I wish he could be here with me :(  but I was a good wifey and pre-made all of his lunches and breakfasts for the rest of the week while I am gone, hehe love you babe!

As for now, I finished all but about 20 pages of my book while on the flights here, so I am going to go finish that up and then get ready for the day.  Happy 23rd birthday to my little seester!!! I LOVE YOU!

Preparing for the seasons

I enjoyed my first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the season at starbucks last week- between enjoying that cup of deliciousness and the drop in the temperature, it hit me that fall is coming which is followed by winter and this Cali girl is not prepared!!

It rained for nearly a week straight last week. I don't even own a rain coat...however I got more use out of my rain boots in that one week than I ever did in CA! Awesome. But it did make me realize I need to invest in a rain jacket! Also, I was freezing, already, and the coldest temps haven't even hit us. Add a winter coat to that shopping list! I bought my first rain jacket on Sunday at the outlet mall. I LOVE it; it's a bright jade green color and it's so cute. More rain on the way tomorrow so I'll get to test it out :) I've got a few months ahead to get more warmer clothes for the winter-can you tell I'm getting nervous!

I can't wait for fall though! I am sooo ready to see the leaves start changing colors.

Other than my excitement over the seasons, we have not been up to much. Working all week, and football on the weekends! Go Vols, Go WVU and Go Pack Go!
